Hi, my name is Rod, I am the founder of BeginHereToday.com. Welcome to my about page. This is my story; it may resonate with some of you.

For me, it started with a dream. It was 2006. I had four kids at home between the ages of five and twelve. My wife and I were working forty plus hours a week. Not just to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads, but because we wanted a better life, for our kids, for us.

The dream of being able to work from anywhere on my own schedule was very appealing to me. Just having the financial independence and flexibility to go where we wanted when we wanted. A simple but powerful freedom.

2006 To 2015 And What I Learned

The world of online business and specifically affiliate marketing was not as easy as some people made it look. Believe me, I bought program after program trying to learn how this “online thing worked”. I would with one program get one piece of the puzzle and then to get the other pieces I would need to spend more and more money to get at what I really needed to be successful.

So, I learned that each course became a puzzle piece. I learned what SEO was but not how to use it. I learned what PPC was but not how to do it. I learned about copywriting, niches, email and funnel marketing, and all the lingo.

In the end I spent thousands of dollars learning how to talk online business but not how to actually walk it out.

I became able to see the red flags if a program or course was legit or a scheme at best and a scam at worst.

I also learned that if someone is telling you how easy it is, and you can be turning profits in a short time, run.

By 2015 I was done. I had spent all this money and time and achieving my dream was not any closer. My wife and I were doing well in our chosen professions. Living a mid to upper class lifestyle, but we were tied to our location and still living on some else’s time. Maybe this is as good as it gets.

Discovering My Why and Wealthy Affiliate

Without a deep seeded emotional why a dream is just a car without any fuel

For three years just accepted life as it was, but in 2018 I ran across an article a guy had written about a platform that taught online business using the affiliate marketing model.

He was saying things like ” it takes consistent work” and ” It takes time to build a business online”. These are things that the other “experts” weren’t saying. I was intrigued so, when he offered a free starter membership to check it out, I did. That is how I got introduced to Wealthy Affiliate.

Soon after I upgraded my membership, and I learned more about online business and affiliate marketing in six months than the entire 12 years prior. It is remarkable what we can accomplish when proper education meets proper motivation.

In the spring of 2023, my wife was diagnosed with stage 3 Lymphoma. Talk about a world shaker. Fortunately, due to our faith in God and some world class physicians and nurses she is in complete remission now.

However, this experience has awakened me to how short life really is. This has ignited a passion as to why I do this. Spending as much time with family and friends and doing what we find joy in is why I do this.

Why I Created This Website

I want others who have a dream of building their own online business to be able to do so and not have to make a lot of the mistakes I have made.

I want to point you in the right direction. I want to see you succeed. This is why I created BeginHereToday.com.
